ZUMBROTA – Award-winning artist Dan Wiemer will show students the secrets to his striking style of work, mimicking woodcuts using acrylic and watercolor paints. “Water Media Woodcut,” meets four Wednesdays in April, starting on April 3.
Wiemer developed his hybrid style, reflecting his love of woodcuts and batiks, using resists and paint. The style relies on the opaque nature of acrylic and the transparency of watercolor. The end result is stylized and unique.
The class is 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. April 3, 10, 17 and 24, and costs $120. Students must bring their own supplies. A list of necessary supplies may be found on the Crossings web site.
Wiemer is an award-winning artist and illustrator who lives in Red Wing. He was trained as a graphic designer and has painted in water media most of his life. He is a past president of the Minnesota Watercolor Society and has taught classes and workshops for twenty years, from Austin to Zumbrota and a few stops in between.
To register for classes, call Crossings at 507-732-7616 or stop in to Crossings at 320 East Ave, Zumbrota. Go to www.crossingsatcarnegie.com for more information and a full list of classes in all the arts.
