Elaine Michel, 80, of Harmony, MN passed away on February 22, 2013 at the Harmony Nursing Home. A memorial service will be held at the Harmony Manor where she resided for the past 10 years on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
Elaine was born to the late James and Elsie (Bigalk) Johnson on May 19, 1932 in Harmony, MN, and lived in the Harmony area throughout her life. She attended Harmony High School and married Gordon Michel on November 11, 1948.
In her young adulthood, Elaine was a farm wife and mother. Later in life she enjoyed collecting dolls and reading, particularly history and biography books. She researched her family genealogy and organized boxes of family historical documents and photographs. Family was very meaningful to her, and she will be remembered for all her handwritten letters, cards, and thank you notes. Elaine was enthusiastic about her grandchildren’s school activities, and eagerly followed her grandson’s and great-grandson’s wrestling events.
Elaine is survived by her sister, Shirley Petri of Owatonna; four children: Susan (Paul) Dye of La Mesa, CA, Michael (Janna) Michel of Rochester, MN, Patricia Berg of Cresco, IA, and James (Deb) Michel of Rochester, MN. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elsie Johnson, her husband Gordon on May 17, 1972, her significant partner James Johnson, and her sister Evelyn Eddy.
