The Eyota City Council will hold a closed meeting Thursday, February 28 after the regular city council meeting to discuss the purchase of two lots for further expansion of Arbor Gardens. The lots are the only lots available near the existing structure. The concern is to avoid becoming landlocked should the lots be sold.
Arbor Gardens is in the progress of replacing some of the damaged stone on the front of the building. The money for the maintenance will come out of the Arbor Garden Enterprise Fund. The fund is money set aside each month. The council will hear from Chris Arendt, Director of the Eyota Ambulance Service, at the February 28 meeting concerning what the Eyota Ambulance Service wants to do about a new building. Because there are two new members on the council and they haven’t had access to all the information, Arendt will update the new council.
Some members of the ambulance service are concerned with the slow progress in starting the new bulding project.
The ambulance service had 143 calls last year with 95 billed calls. Total revenue was approximatley $69,000. The ambulance service is getting special equipment including an artificial arm to train to use IVs.
This year there will be something new at the Eyota Farmer’s Market thanks to a grant provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield. The Farmer’s market will be able to purchase machines to allow people to use their Electronic Benefits Transfer cards at the market. Some people have requested this in the past and the council approved the grant to see how it works out. The cards are used by public assistance clients to access their cash and food support benefits.
