The Booker Mini Foundation is preparing to create a big night of music called “Stand Tall, But Not Alone.” On their seventh annual event they are standing up to perform with three other popular local musical attractions on Friday, November 23, the day after Thanksgiving;

Sharing the stage with the long-popular Booker Mini Band will be Annie Mack, Incognito, and Brad Boice, a local Elvis impersonator. Hoping to pack the house at the Mayo Civic Auditorium’s Taylor Arena, they are planning this event to be even bigger and better the seventh time around.

Booker Mini will take the stage twice for an early set from 8:15 to 9 pm, and following a life auction at 10 pm the guys will keep on playing, like their bygone days, until midnight.

The doors open at the arena at 5:30 pm and Annie Mack starts off the evening with a set from 6 to 6:45 pm. When Incognito has their instruments ready, they will play from 7 to 8 pm, followed by Booker Mini’s first time on stage. And guess what, they still play their old songs!

Brad Boice from Chatfield, coming with his own following of Elvis fans, will wow the crowd as usual with his grooving Elvis moves and tunes from 9:10 to 9:45 pm.

The primary goal for the Booker Mini Foundation’s party is “to raise funds for families that are facing life-threatening illnesses that significantly impact their financial security.” Their (501 C3) non-profit corporation’s mission statement has proved to be true as they have helped 110 families and distributed over $300,000 to these families. They have helped folks in Olmsted, Winona, Fillmore, Mower, Dodge, Goodhue and Winona Counties, giving away at least 92 percent of every dollar raised.

The creation of the foundation allowed a group of nine guys who had enjoyed playing together to come together again with a new purpose. It gives them a chance to still gather and make music like the old days, just not quite as often. They sponsor up to four benefits annually.

Starting at 6 pm, with bids accepted until 9:30 pm, is a silent auction of donated items. At 9:45 pm raffle cash prize winners will be announced. Being present is not necessary for ticket holders to win one of four $1,000 and one $750 prize. Reserved group or corporate tables are available for $500, with seating for 10, which includes a buffet meal.

Admission to the event is a free will offering, with a suggested amount of $20 each. All donations for the event, either cash or in kind, are tax deductible.

Anyone wishing to donate for the silent auction may contact LuAnn Buechler at www.PMCEventsandTravel.com or call 507-951-1468. To contribute to the live auction contact Gene Peters at 507-282-5985. Learn more about the foundation at their website: bookermini.org.

All you Annie Mack, Incognito, Brad Boice and Booker Mini fans—come on out and enjoy six hours of music and entertainment! Any music fan might want to come and hear these great musicians for the first time.
