Fright farm loaded with Halloween thrills

Headless Horseman Stable, Zombie Express, Maze of Terror, Witches Lair, Haunted Hearse and the Butcher Shop! No, they are not movies. You don’t have to travel far to find out for yourself what they are all about. You can find them in Rochester and they all have one thing in common. They are all designed to shock you, scare you a little bit and get your heart rate up. They are all part of Fright Farm a production by Rochester Horror.
Fright Farm is a walk-through Halloween event held at the History Center of Olmsted County. The event is in its second year and there have been changes. Originally it was a drive-through event, but this year it was changed to a guided walk-through event. The History Center was looking for help to develop the show, and Ted Rohde of Rochester Horror was looking for a bigger place to offer his Halloween production, so the two got together.
“We have 50 to 100 volunteers and they all enjoy it,” said Ted Rohde, Fright Farm Director. “We are all out there having fun.” Rohde has developed a family friendly event and has thought of people of all ages. “It’s an alcohol free event,” Rohde said. There is a warming tent to wait and refreshments should you get hungry.
Last year the program ran for just a couple of weekends. This year it has been expanded and there is still plenty of time remaining for you to get your Halloween thrill. You may take in the haunted farm site and caves this Friday and Saturday October 26 and 27 or Monday through Wednesday October 29-31. Saturday, October 27 there is a special family friendly Lights on Presentation from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. One child’s ticket will get two parents in for the Lights on Presentation.
“Ted has volunteers for characters,” said James Lundgren, Executive Director for the History Center of Olmsted County. “It’s a win-win situation for both of us.” Tickets are $10 purchased in advance or online and $12 at the door. Portions of the proceeds benefit the History Center. For more information you may go to rochesterhorror.com.
