Elaine Mae Ellinghuysen Carlson, 84, went home to her Lord and was reunited with her husband, Rocky, and son, Bruce, on Thursday, August 30, 2012, at Winona Health in Winona, MN. Elaine was born May 22, 1928, in Hillsdale Township, Winona County, MN, to Paul and Elna (Braatz) Ellinghuysen. She met the love of her life, Rockwell “Rocky” B. Carlson, and was married April 3, 1948, in Winona, MN. Elaine and Rocky settled in Rushford, MN where they made their home for over 60 yeas. Along with being a homemaker, Elaine worked for Julsrud Grocery and clerked for over 30 years at Christienson’s Pharmacy in Rushford. Elaine was a member of Rushford Lutheran Church and had been a member of the church’s women’s group and circle. Elaine loved to travel with her husband Rocky, play cards, and especially loved family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Dean (Jeanine) Carlson of Overland Park, KS; five grandchildren, Angela (James) Smith of Autryville, NC, Chanel Carlson of Rushford, MN, Joshua Carlson of Overland Park, KS, Andrew (Krystal) Carlson of Rochester, MN, and Matthew Carlson of Overland Park, KS; three siblings, Vernice (Reuben) Alitz of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Irene Nerison of Osseo, MN, and Merlin (Pat) Ellinghuysen of Winona, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Rocky, and son, Bruce.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 4th, at 11:00am, at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Reverend Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial will be at the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday at Hoff Funeral Home - Rushford from 5-8:00pm and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
