Stewartville Middle School Principal Joe Jezierski announced he would soon be leaving the Stewartville school district with a “bittersweet heart.”
Jezierski formally provided his resignation at the school board work session meeting June 11 after recently accepted an offer to become director of teaching and learning for the Red Wing school district.
“I have come to feel that Stewartville is my home,” he said. “However, there are times that one needs to leave home to grow and this is the case for me.” Jezierski has served as a principal for the Stewartville district for six years.
“I have developed great relationships with students, parents and community members and have wonderful memories which I will take with me wherever my path leads,” Jezierski told the board.
The board unanimously approved his resignation.
“We are not happy, but congratulations,” said Stewartville Public Schools Superintendent David Thompson. “Thank you for your time and work here.”
Jezierski’s resignation as principal for Stewartville Middle School will become effective July 31.
The next board meeting will be held Monday, June 25 at 7 p.m. in the board room.
