The Dover City Council approved a budget of $7,000 for the summer recreation program. Michelle Amundson, Summer Recreation program Director, will receive a salary of $2,250. “We as a city are happy you are doing the program,” Mayor Roger Ihrke told Amundson. “I get positive comments from kids and once in a while from parents.” The program will include many of the same programs as last year. “Crafts are the most popular and my favorite,” Amundson said. “I’ll get 16 to 25 kids for each craft.”

The Dover road repair project has moved to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MNDOT) for approval. The city is moving forward with parking plans should the road project be approved. The Roadtrip Booze, Cruise and Tattoos Weekend is scheduled for May 18-20. A representative for the business asked for permission to close off part of the road in front of the business for a motorcycle show. The council moved that decision to the May City Council meeting because of the road project decision. If the project is approved and has started, then blocking the road is not an option because it becomes a major corridor through the city.

The Dover Citywide Rummage Sales is scheduled for Saturday, May 13. The council also approved Tuesday, July 3, for the city fireworks.

The Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting will be held April 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. The meeting gives citizens the opportunity to appeal their assessments. An appearance before the local board is required by law before an appeal can be taken to the county Board of Appeal and Equalization.
