Olmsted County Commissioner Judy Ohly announced on Friday, March 9, that she is running for the Minnesota Senate in District 25 and will be seeking the DFL endorsement. Ohly is a 34 year resident of Rochester and is currently serving a second term on the Olmsted County Board. She is excited for the opportunity to bring common sense and collaborative solutions to the Capitol. She recently stated, “I am ready to advocate for the constituents of this district and listen to their opinions on new approaches to addressing southeastern Minnesota’s concerns.” Ohly is committed to reforms to make government more efficient and to create additional jobs in the region. Providing adequate funding for education while holding down property taxes are also priorities for Ohly. “Paying back our schools and growing our economy are the main focuses of my campaign,” Commissioner Ohly stated. Ohly is married to Louis Ohly Jr., her husband of 25 years, and has three adult children. She has also been a realtor for 29 years.
