Max (Jack) Prokasky, 91, long time area farmer, died April 1, 2011, in Tri County Memorial Hospital in Whitehall, Wisconsin
Jack was born August 8, 1919, in Dexter, Minnesota, and moved to Oronoco as a small boy. He married Dolores (Dolly) Lewis at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, April 25, 1940.
He farmed in the Oronoco area most of his life. He was well known for his beef cattle. As a young man, Jack was an avid hunter and baseball player. He and his brother, Chris, owned and operated Pollack’s Resort on Lake Zumbro, now known as Fisherman’s Inn. He was a dozer operator for Stolp and Reitman Construction Company, and he also worked at Webster’s Zumbrota Livestock Auction Market. He was very active in Grace Lutheran Church in Oronoco. In addition to being Sunday School superintendent, he served on the Council for many years. He was instrumental in the building of the new church. He also wrote and published two books about his life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was especially proud when his grandson, Leslie, joined him in raising cattle. He moved to Wisconsin to live with his daughter Ginger, in 2007. He was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters and his beloved wife, Dolly, of 64 years.
He is survived by two daughters: Barbara of Toms River, New Jersey and Ginger Maliszewski (Bill) of Independence, Wisconsin; and his four grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at Grace Lutheran Church in Oronoco on Wednesday, April 6th, with Rev. Paul Baldauf officiating. Burial was in the Oronoco Cemetery.
Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
