Stewartville students set to attend Eagle Bluff event

The Stewartville School Board held an organizational meeting for 2012 on Monday, January 9.
The board selected the following officers for 2012: Chairperson – Mark Vaupel; Vice-Chairperson – Rob Mathias; Clerk – Joe Waugh; Treasurer – Tara Stockman; and Board Secretary – Sheila Gossman.
The board approved the salaries for board members at $2,200 for the Board Chairperson and $1,900 for each Director. It was noted that the same salary level has been in place since 1999. The board also approved the dates, places and times of regular school board meetings and work sessions for the year.
The board passed a resolution designating Patricia Maloney and Joseph Langel of Ratwik, Roszak and Maloney of Minneapolis, and Steven Corson of Corson Law Office of Stewartville as school district attorney. The board also designated the following individuals from the school district as representatives to the Minnesota State High School League for 2012: Joe Waugh – governing board representative; Dr. David Thompson – school representative; Sharon Morlock – girls’ sports representative; Kelly Manley – speech activities, and Jessica Honsey – music activities.
The board appointed board members to the following committees for 2012: Tara Stockman – Community Education Advisory Committee; Rob Mathias and Joe Waugh – Building Construction and Facilities Committee; Mark Vaupel, Tara Stockman and Elizabeth Lawson – Negotiations Committee; Rob Mathias – Liaison with the High School Student Council; Rod Morlock – Schools for Equity in Education representative; Angela Payton – Bonner/Central Parent Advisory Committee; Tara Stockman, Rod Morlock and Rob Mathias – Finance Committee; Elizabeth Lawson – Zumbro Education District (ZED) Governing Board; Rod Morlock Health and Safety Committee; Mark Vaupel – District Advisory Committee; Rod Morlock and Joe Waugh – District Wellness Committee; and, Angela Payton and Elizabeth Lawson – Policy Review Committee.
In other action, the board approved the fifth grade environmental learning trip to Eagle Bluff from May 2-4. 148 students are planning on attending the event. “This is an annual event that we have been doing since 1998,” Central Intermediate School Principal Eldon Anderson said.
Eagle Bluff is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) residential environmental learning center located in Lanesboro, Minnesota. Eagle Bluff is .....
