Lois Lorraine Kirkpatrick, 71, of Byron, died Wednesday March 27, 2013 at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center, MN.
A lifelong resident of Byron, MN, Lois Lorraine Yennie was born June 17, 1941 to Edna and Melchor Yennie. She attended Byron public schools. While working as a waitress in a Byron café she met the love of her life, Edmund Earl Kirkpatrick. The two married on June 28, 1958 and resided in Rochester. They later moved to rural Byron and raised three sons, Daniel, Wallace, and Cory. Lois worked in manufacturing for Waters Conley before becoming a bus driver for Byron schools for thirty years. She was a passionate wrestling fan who was often heard cheering loudly for the Byron Bears. Her hobbies included traveling, watching stock car races, cake decorating, making grapevine wreaths, and watching PBS programs. Lois was known as ‘grandma’ to many and she was especially proud of her grandsons Sidney and Samuel. She was also proud of her four-legged ‘son,’ Benji.
Lois is survived by two sons, Daniel Kirkpatrick of Byron, and Cory (Bridget) Kirkpatrick of St. Francis, Minnesota; her two grandsons; and three brothers, Delmar (Dory) Yennie of Stewartville, Marvin (Audrey) Yennie of Wabasha, and Gerald (Kathie) Yennie of Rochester.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edmund; a son, Wallace; and her parents.
A memorial service for Lois Kirkpatrick will be held Friday April 5th at 11:00 AM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. The Reverend Chris Vincent will officiate. Burial of the urn will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday, April 5th.
