A memorial service will be held for Mary Bung on Thursday May 16th at 1:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. A private burial will be held at the Chatfield Cemetery. Mary Bung, 79, of Rochester, died Sunday May 12, 2013 at the skilled care unit of Madonna Towers in Rochester.
Mary Louise Kruger was born October 11, 1933 in Rochester, the daughter of Alvin and Bernice Kruger. She was a lifelong resident of Rochester. She married Roger Bung in 1950 in Eyota. Mary was a wonderful and caring mother and grandmother, and family gatherings during the holidays were especially meaningful to her. She will be remembered for her wit and her willingness to strike up a conversation with anyone. She enjoyed cooking, playing bridge, watching birds, writing letters and sending cards.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynn (Bob) Haltvick of West Concord, Patti Lee (Perry) Bock of New Ulm, Rise (Mitch) Hart of Benson, Arizona, and Kim (Charles Lawson) Bung of Saint Paul; a son, Michael (Cindi) Bung of Mankato; grandchildren, Jacob (Kristen) Bung, Jeremy Bung, P.J. Bock, Rosella (Cris) Peterson, Nickolas (Vanessa) Haltvick, Maggie Haltvick, Patrick Haltvick, and Zachary Haltvick; a brother, David (Evonne) Kruger of Wabasha; siblings-in-law, Carol Kruger of Rochester, and Paul and Judie Fogarty of Wabasha. Also surviving are a dear friend Sharon Haarstad; several nieces and nephews; and Rise’s dog, Sally.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Paul Kruger; and a grandson, Dustin Bung.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
If so desired, memorials may be directed to the Arthritis Foundation.
